December 7th marks the 19th anniversary of Blue Water Communications as well as the 19th work anniversary of our founder, Lynnette Werning. Join us in celebrating Lynnette’s legacy as she embarks on her next adventure. At the end of December, she will step away from her day-to-day role with Blue Water, marking a natural and exciting next step for both Lynnette and the agency.
Emma Caro will continue as Blue Water’s president, a role she assumed in January 2024. Emma has led the Blue Water team with strategic direction and energy, continuing the firm’s legacy of excellence. Under her leadership, the company is thriving, making this the perfect time for Lynnette to shift her focus.
Lynnette will remain connected to Blue Water through select special projects, concentrating on her areas of expertise: media training, public relations strategy, media tours and crisis communications.
When Lynnette founded Blue Water Communications in 2006, she began with clients in one state and envisioned a public relations firm focused on creative thinking, strategic campaigns and outstanding client service. Nearly two decades later, Blue Water now serves museum clients in 22 states. The 2017 merger with David James Company further strengthened Blue Water’s position as a national leader in communications for museums, architecture and destinations.
Lynnette’s passion for growing great ideas and sharing meaningful stories is infectious. From media training and interview prep — complete with tailored talking points and some wardrobe advice — to exhibition and building opening events, including one with boxers and polo ponies, Lynnette and Blue Water Communications are committed to customized public relations strategies that have resulted in a long history of securing national and international coverage for museums, architecture and destinations in media outlets ranging from The New York Times, Wall Street Journal and CBS Sunday Morning to New Yorker, NPR, PBS NewsHour and The Art Newspaper. Relationships forged over many years continue to yield results for Blue Water’s clients.
Through her tenure at Blue Water, Lynnette accumulated an extensive list of achievements. She has been selected to host media training workshops for more than 500 professionals in the museum, architecture and destination fields. She also holds a rare dual professional certification, with accreditation from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), an achievement earned by only 5% of public relations practitioners, and a Strategic Planning Professional designation from the International Association for Strategy Professionals. She also served as the president of PR Boutiques International.
Blue Water and the David James Company celebrate Lynnette’s vision, leadership and enduring influence on the agency’s success — and look forward to continuing to collaborate with her in new ways in the years ahead.
