THE CREW

Blue Water team members are seasoned professionals who have spent decades helping arts and creative-minded organizations succeed.

Each of our public relations professionals boasts 10–20 years in the field. We have collectively represented nearly 50 museums, arts institutions, destinations, gardens and attractions in 22 states. Each member of the Blue Water team has also worked in a museum or destination’s marketing office.

Our Values: We listen more than we talk • We inspire and we respond • We benchmark success as excellence • We collaborate rather than compete • We build relationships based on trust and mutual respect • We achieve results while maintaining an ethical compass

Blue Water merged with David James Company

In 2017, Blue Water merged with David James Company, an integrated marketing communications agency that specializes in associations and non-profit organizations.

Blue Water is a member of PR Boutiques International (PRBI), a multi-national partnership of founder-led boutique PR firms that reflect a comprehensive set of culturally aware public relations skills. Each agency in PRBI has an area of specialization, and Blue Water Communications represents the museum field.

PRBI member agencies are located throughout North America, Asia, South America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and the Middle East. Through their collaboration in PRBI, members offer the personalized, senior-level expertise of the boutique firm combined with the broad, international reach and market specialization of much larger agencies. Blue Water’s founder, Lynnette Werning, served as this prestigious network’s 2020-2021 president.

Our Philosophy

Our clients strive to bring art, wonder and connection to their communities. At Blue Water, we work every day to shine a brighter light on their stories. We establish and nurture significant relationships with media in North America and around the world. We pick up the phone and get to know our contacts. We leverage those relationships and tell compelling stories to earn relevant coverage in top-tier media outlets. Through creative thinking and strategic campaigns, we produce results that reinforce our clients’ key messages and institutional goals. We choose, create and benchmark the most effective tools and tactics to deliver lasting value to our clients.

Yes! We’ve worked with numerous museum, architecture and destination clients on a major milestone, such as a museum groundbreaking, major art exhibition, media training or crisis communications plan. If you’re in need of these services, reach out to see how our PR experts can help you make the most of your opportunity.

When time is of the essence, we can mobilize quickly to help you get ahead of a significant project, such as a major art exhibition, media training, museum groundbreaking or crisis communication plan. Ideally, we will have enough advanced notice for a discovery phase so that we can get to know you, so advance notice creates more success. Our goal is to be able to start a year out on most projects, but we have garnered results on projects in much shorter time frames.

Our clients range in size and scope of work. Whether you require PR support for a special project or you’re in search of long-term media relations support, we can help. No matter your PR budget, reach out to us.

Work With Us

Blue Water Communications receives all kinds of inquiries. Maybe you’re in the middle of a major milestone. Perhaps the biggest exhibition you’ve ever undertaken is in the works, or maybe your capital campaign has ended, and you just realized you need help telling the world about your planned expansion. We can help in any PR situation.
