Natural light, collaborative spaces and city pride are the M.O. of DesignGroup’s new Peninsula office.
The architecture and design firm announced its Columbus headquarters move, along with an expansion to Indianapolis, in March. Previously located at 515 E. Main St. downtown for over 25 years, the growing company is now situated at 330 Rush Alley in a space they designed themselves. It features views of Columbus skyscrapers and access to the Peninsula development and Franklinton’s amenities.
“Being in a place where there are a lot of things happening, a lot of projects happening around us – it’s inspiring,” Joe Mayer, the design director and managing principal who led the internal team’s design plan, told Columbus Business First. “It’s helpful just to know where you’re coming to work every day is part of the transformation that you’re trying to achieve with your job, too.”
DesignGroup occupies the north half of the fourth floor of The Peninsula Building, with a tenant space of around 12,500 square feet. The building is owned by Daimler Group, which also managed construction for the firm’s new office. Office renovation costs were just under $2.4 million, Mayer said.
