Pressley Ridge Day School Pittsburgh, which provides special education services for students with behavioral and mental health needs, is getting an $18 million renovation.

The renovation centralizes and updates multiple services in one building, including the Family Counseling Center, administrative offices and the Day School; it also brings the Career Development Center back on campus.

Calm rooms, regulation stations and sensory niches are being incorporated throughout each neighborhood to help support staff and students when they experience difficult days.

About 80% of the interior is being gutted. The facility will have new, individual entrances for each service, as well as unique visual identities assigned to each “neighborhood.” The building will have a new roof and windows, and the exterior brick and limestone will be repaired and cleaned.
