Upcoming Exhibitions at the TMA

At the Toledo Museum of Art

Prints and Authors from the Time of Manet
Sept. 13, 2012–Jan. 13, 2013, Works on Paper Gallery

Édouard Manet (1832–1883) came of age during a time of prolific change in Paris and in French society in general. While earlier artists produced works of biblical and mythological subjects full of history and allegory, artists like Manet began to paint more freely and to draw inspiration from the life around them. Prints, photographs and illustrated books are included in this exhibition of artworks produced during Manet’s lifetime. More than 120 works by some of the most talented artists working in the period—including Renoir, Corot, Daumier, Whistler, and Manet himself—are featured. Free admission. See All
